State-of-the-Art Facility

Hamilton’s new 65,000 square-foot caster & wheel plant located at 1637 Dixie Highway in Hamilton, Ohio, opened in the Summer of 2021.

The space includes climate control in both office and manufacturing spaces, tilt-up concrete walls, multitude of CNC work cells w/ integrated robotic welders and an integrated powder paint system. The new plant joins two other buildings on the almost 7-acre campus. Hamilton now has approx.100K sq. ft. under roof.

Our north building houses Hamilton's cart and trailer manufacturing and the building on the west side is home for our extensive test lab, overflow warehousing of raw material, and maintenance operations.

Production Worker

Are you looking for a rewarding entry-level career opportunity? This entry-level assembly position is responsible for wheels, casters, brakes, and sub-assembly in our new state-of-the-art climate-controlled manufacturing facility.

As a production worker, you will assemble wheels, casters, brakes and sub-assemblies based upon work orders, factory orders, and CAD drawings. The ideal candidate has a high mechanical aptitude.

Caster Assembly is one of the entry-level positions at Hamilton Caster. Other opportunities such as Shipping & Receiving, Welding/Fabricating, CNC operators and CNC Programmer/Operators with increased pay will become available to qualified candidates. We are looking for individuals who have the desire and ability to move into higher skilled jobs.

Overtime is paid daily after 8 hours of work Monday through Friday and the entire shift on Saturday. Overtime is paid at 1 1/2 times the hourly rate. Closed on Sundays.

Basic Qualifications

  • Ability to assemble wheels, casters, brakes and sub-assemblies based upon work orders, factory orders, blueprints or CAD drawings
  • Pull and deliver parts from stock warehouse to assembly
  • Store materials/parts safely and performs general housekeeping duties
  • Usage of powered/manual hand tool and fine motor skills required
  • Stand for a minimum of 8-hour shifts with minimal breaks
  • Able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Proficient working with computers for information lookup and data entry
  • Previous shipping experience a plus
  • Ability to work in a team environment, with a good work ethic and good attendance
  • Ability to work overtime (extended weekdays and weekends) to support production demands
  • Drug testing and background check will be administered prior to hiring

Physical Qualifications (With or Without Accommodation)

  • Climb on equipment, machines, ladders and various step stools
  • Kneel, squat, and crawl on knees and work in tight spaces
  • Work in awkward positions, including forward reach, lateral reach, squat, overhead reaching, twisting and forward head and rotation of neck
  • Work in an environment with frequently changing temperatures and all-weather conditions
  • Noise levels of 90db or greater
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. max.
  • Exposure to magnets that may impact medical devices
  • Use of fine motor skills
  • Use of hand tools
  • Required Personal Protective Equipment: hearing protection, safety glasses, steel toed/metatarsal foot gear, and protective clothing and equipment including shock resistant gloves, fall restraint harnesses, jackets, chaps, helmet, grinding shield, cut/heat resistant sleeves, etc.

Additional Information

  • Top candidates will also have experience MIG welding, ability to read blueprints and ability to work safely and wear all required personal protective equipment.
  • Pay range depending on experience: $21.50- 22.84 per hour
  • Following a phone interview, a hands-on weld test may be scheduled
  • Shift: 1st Full Time
  • Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:00am- 3:30pm

The Role

We are seeking a talented and experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with 7+ years of experience to join our team. As a mechanical design engineer, you will be responsible for designing our next generation of industrial casters, wheels, and material handling products for commercial sale. The Mechanical Design Engineer will join a team of expert material handling engineers to propose new product designs, improve existing product design, and customize our products to customers’ unique requirements. The Mechanical Design Engineer will use Autodesk Inventor 2023 as their primary design software.

Responsibilities

  • Design products and subcomponents that meet the needs of the industrial marketplace that are sold into the automotive, aerospace, heavy manufacturing markets.
  • Perform full lifecycle product development (design, develop, test prototypes, manufacture and implement).
  • Coordination with manufacturing/production engineering for material procurement and production planning including selection of materials. Apply DFMA principles throughout the design process.
  • Test and evaluate theoretical designs and eventually evaluate final product’s overall performance, reliability, and safety.
  • Engage in lifelong learning and develop new theories or methods.
  • The ultimate goal is to design “best in class” industrial casters and wheels for the material handling industry.

Requirements

  • 7+ years proven working experience in mechanical engineering with industrial products.
  • Must have proficiency with 3D CAD Software, preferably Autodesk Inventor.
  • Work experience with using Finite Element Analysis and product management software: Autodesk Vault, Product Lifecycle Management (NX) or Product Data Management (SolidWorks).
  • Experience with machine design, including structural design, assemblies, subassemblies, weldments, and components is highly desired.
  • Experience in generating, maintaining and updating product Bills of Materials is desired.
  • Adequate knowledge of engineering analysis tools.
  • Solid understanding of core concepts including mechanics, kinematics, materials science etc.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes (machining, welding and assembly).
  • General knowledge of forging and casting processes.
